Downhole Fluidics, Inc., is a descendent of PerfClean
International, Inc., which began operations in the Permian Basin Region
of the USA. In early 1990 the company began to investigate various
methods and technologies for treating near wellbore damage. It was
decided to pursue the use of a technology known as fluidics
as a means to offer the energy industry a modern and efficient alternative
to traditional treatments. The initial PerfClean© Tool System
was put into service in the spring of 1992.
Downhole Fluidics, Inc., utilizes the PerfClean Tool System Technology,
now also known as Oscillator, to perform treatments
that are designed to remove near wellbore damage of all kinds and
restore or increase the porosity and permeability of the near wellbore
in all types of wells. These treatments range from the primary stimulation
of the formation to remedial workovers. Our tools have been used
to treat over 2,500 wells in 12 states and 7 international areas.
The treatment design and execution varies according to well conditions
the customers goals. The current Downhole Fluidics Oscillator
has been successfully used to correct problems in wells from 90
to 27,000 deep.
The Downhole Fluidics Oscillator is built around a patented fluidic
oscillator. This oscillator creates pulsating pressure waves within
the wellbore and formation fluids. These pressure waves break up
any type of near wellbore damage and restore and enhance the permeability
of the perforations and near wellbore area. The Downhole Fluidics©
Oscillator is run into the well via coiled tubing, conventional
tubing, wash pipe or drill pipe. The desired treatment fluid (acid,
water, seawater, diesel, nitrified fluids, etc.) is pumped down
the tubing through the Downhole Fluidics© tool. The oscillating
pressure waves generated by the Downhole Fluidics© tools are
not affected by standoff like conventional jetting or velocity tools.
The kinetic energy of the pressure pulse travels through the wellbore
fluid with no appreciable energy loss. It is only after the pressure
wave contacts the formation that this energy is "dumped"
and the process of removing the near wellbore damage is initiated.
As the damage is removed and the permeability is restored, these
pressure waves penetrate deeper and deeper into the formation. These
pressure waves expand in a spherical fashion from the point of origin,
which ensures that 360-degree coverage is accomplished while moving
the tools through the interval. The acoustic streaming induced by
the oscillator focuses the treatment fluid and tool energy to the
immediate area of the tool, which allows for treating specific intervals.
The Downhole Fluidics© oscillators are true fluidic oscillators
based on the Coanda Effect. There are no moving parts. They do not
rely on cavitation to create pressure waves. There are no packer
elements to fail. Unlike mechanical tools, which suffer from high-energy
losses, the Downhole Fluidics© oscillator maximizes the energy
potential of the pumped fluid. Reports from our customers who have
used other tools and "similar" technology show that the
Downhole Fluidics© is unsurpassed for long term results. Actual
production history shows that while competing tools and technology
have similar production increases immediately after treatment, their
"increases" drop off dramatically in 2-3 weeks. Actual
production history from offsetting wells shows that the Downhole
Fluidics© tool results in substantially higher long term production/injection
increases. This indicates that the depth of penetration with the
Downhole Fluidics© tool is greater than other tools using "similar"
technology.
